Lonzo George Thompson, age 74, of Temple, GA (Paulding County), passed away Monday, April 5, 2010. He was born in Blue Ridge, GA, November 23, 1935. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, T. W. & Hettie Lou Thompson; wife, Willa Mae Thomas Thompson; brother, James Thompson; and sister, Ruby Thomas. He was the former owner of L & W Machine Shop in Temple and R & S Feed & Tack in Buchanan. Mr. Thompson was a member of Beulahland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law, Ricky & Sue Thompson of Temple and Barry & Amy Thompson of Temple; daughter & son-in-law, Sherry & Steve Goldin of Temple; sister, Johnnie Queen of Mableton; grandchildren, Tracie Crew, Chet Goldin, Lundy Thompson, Levi Thompson, Morgan Thompson and Jake Thompson; great-grandchildren, Kensley Crew, Kayne Crew and Emma Goldin; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 8, 2010, at 11:00 AM, from Beulahland Baptist Church, with Reverend Steve Goldin, Reverend Benny Thomas, Reverend J. D. Thomas and Reverend Kent Bankston officiating. Mr. Thompson will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Interment will be in Beulahland Baptist Church Cemetery, with Chet Goldin, Lundy Thompson, Levi Thompson, Jake Thompson, Johnny Thomas, Doug Wingard and David Buchanan serving as pallbearers. Owenby will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
