Lorene B. Lawson, age 76, of Hiram, GA, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012. The daughter of the late, Arthur & Ada Ruth Brown, she was born March 31, 1936, in Quitman, GA. She retired from the Dade County School System in Miami, FL, after teaching for 32 years. She was a member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church and a Golden Life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Harold & Tonya Lawson of Hiram, GA; daughter, Jane Lawson of Dallas, GA; brother, Ernest Brown of Valdosta, GA; sisters, Ada Ruth Davis of Concord, NC and Madelyn Brown of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Shardai Metka-Davis (Chad), Avynn Lawson, Zaria Lawson and Jarod Lawson; great-grandchildren, Chad Davis, II and Tohny Davis; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 16, 2012, at 2:00 PM, from Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Hiram, GA, with the eulogy being delivered by Dr. Jeffery Wimbush, Sr. and Pastor Jeffrey T. Watkins officiating. (The body will lie-in-state at the church from 1:30 PM until the service time.) Interment will be in the church cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Sunday, September 16, 2012, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.
