Mrs. Lorene Rakestraw Perdue, age 91, of Austell, Georgia passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014. She was born July 23, 1922, to the late Frank Rakestraw and Vella Owen Rakestraw of Paulding County. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Elton Perdue, brothers, Thomas Rakestraw, Lloyd Rakestraw and infant, Cephus Allen Rakestraw and sister, Gladys Rakestraw Bivens. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law; Peggy and Larry Kelley of Lawrenceville, GA; Pat and Boyce Maxwell of Marietta, GA; son and daughter-in law, Charles and Patti Perdue, of Douglasville, GA; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Lorene started to work at First National Bank, Atlanta, GA, in 1952, and retired from Wachovia Bank after 35 years of a banking service. She was a wonderful seamstress and after retiring, she made bridesmaid dresses, window treatments, along with all types of alterations, making many new friends along the way.
She enjoyed her church family and has been a member of New Cannan Baptist Church since 1937, teaching Sunday School, singing in the Choir, and continuing to be active in all church activities.
Lorene was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February, 25, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Clark Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Don Rackley will officiate. The family will receive visitors at Clark Funeral Home, 4373 Atlanta Highway, Hiram, GA, 30141, on Monday, February 24, 2014, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
