On January 03, 2017, Margaret Louise Thompson, 87, of Dallas, GA went home to be with Jesus. She was a heart patient at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, GA when the Lord called her home. Margaret was born April 13, 1929 in Buford, GA to the late Fred and Flora (Overby) Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband Forrest Hoke Thompson of Talladega, AL in 2014.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sheila Ann Ragsdale and son-in-law, Russ; granddaughter, Michelle Lawler and husband Bo, great grandson, Rob Lawler and wife, Jessica, great, great granddaughter, Aiden; great granddaughter, Melissa Lawler; granddaughter, Deanne Tate, great granddaughter, Jessy Tate; half brother, Lanny Bennett and wife, Janice; half sisters, Teri Cofer and LaRita Parks and her husband, Charles; several nieces and nephews.
Margaret grew up in Buford, GA where at a young age, she received forgiveness from the Lord and became a Christian. A few years later, she met Forrest, the love of her life and her husband of 67 years. She devoted her life to her family and to being a disciple of Jesus Christ through her church and various Christian organizations such as; CBN Ministries in Atlanta, and later, Helping Hands of Paulding County. Margaret was the Director of Helping Hands in Paulding County for 14 years and was a member of Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta, GA. Later, she became a member of Celebration Church of God in Dallas, GA. Her ministry in life was to love and help people find salvation through Jesus Christ. After retiring from Helping Hands at the age of 75, she continued her ministry of love by praying for and being a blessing to her family and everyone she encountered. Up unto her final hours, she was uplifting those around her with her sweet smile, encouraging words and lilting laugh. Margaret will be sorely missed and fondly thought of by all that knew her, and by faith, we know she has reached her Heavenly Home.
Visitation will be held at Clark’s Funeral Home in Dallas, GA on Friday, January 6, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and her life’s celebration will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Keith Graham officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, GA. at a later date due to inclement weather.
