Mark Truitt Folsom, 60 years old of Dallas, GA went to be with Our Lord and Savior on December 7, 2024. Mark is survived by his wife of 37 years Melissa Johnson Folsom and daughter and son-in-law Caroline and Tyler Sanders from Marietta. Grand-dog, Silas Folsom loved his "pawpaw". Father-in-law Jonah L Johnson, Powder Springs, and brother-in-law Frederick Brooks, Atlanta. Nephews Brian and Dwayne Stover and their families. He was preceded in death by his father Lemon Truitt Folsom, mother Mary Helen Sosebee Folsom, and sister Mary Jane Stover.
Mark was native to Paulding County. He was born at the old Paulding Hospital. He attended Dallas & Matthews Elementary, Pauling County Junior High, and Paulding County High School. He got a degree in small engine repairs from Marietta Vocational Tech. He started his work career at Captain Eddie's and Winn Dixie. He retired from Cobb County Water after 30 years of service. He ended that career as the supervisor for the Emergency Dispatch Center. He then went back to work at Cobb County DOT part-time and had to leave due to the pandemic. Mark fought so hard to be able to go back to work, but his health prevented him from doing so.
Mark was a proud member of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Hiram, GA.
Mark truly loved people. He never met a stranger that he did not tell his testimony of what God did for him. Throughout his illness, he met many doctors and nurses who tried their best to figure out his condition. Mark was diagnosed with Good Syndrome in 2023, which is very rare, and not much information is known. After removing a thymoma from his chest in December 2023, he never truly recovered. More and more blood transfusions were needed which damaged his liver with iron overload.
Our family wants to thank Northwest Oncology and the infusion centers at Paulding. The nurses and doctors who worked diligently to save him these past 2 weeks at Kennestone. Special thanks to his nurse Kaylee. Most importantly to my cousin April Sosebee, her help and kind heart to taking charge when we needed our voice to be heard. We love you and will never ever forget you.
