Marvin Gene Elsberry, Sr., age 82, of Hiram, GA, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012. He was born March 15, 1930, to the late, Ben Zeb Elsberry and the late, Lillie Carruth Elsberry. Mr. Elsberry was a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner of Elsberry & Son Service Station & Car Wash for 30 years. Mr. Elsberry also worked for the Ford Motor Company for many years and was a former Deputy Sheriff with Paulding County. He loved to garden, farming, hunting and fishing and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barbara Shelton Elsberry; son, Gene Elsberry of Hiram, GA; daughter, Alisa Clark of Hiram, GA; brothers & sisters-in-law, James & Beverly Elsberry of Dallas, GA, and Howell & Burma Elsberry of Temple, GA; sisters, Mattie Lee Gulledge of Dallas, GA and Mary Morris of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Wesley Dees (Patches) of Carrollton, GA and Jeremy Dees of Hiram, GA; great-grandchildren, Kayla Dees, Natalie Dees and Novalee Conroy; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 28, 2012, at 2:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Wayne Meadows and Reverend George Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
