Mary Cunningham

Mary Cunningham, age 79, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She was born in Felton, Georgia on March 30, 1945, the daughter of the late Joe Turner Armstrong and the late Willie Edna Summerville Armstrong.

Mary devoted over two decades to serving the community at Villa Rica Walmart, where her warm smile and unwavering dedication endeared her to all who crossed her path. As a steadfast member of Mountain View Baptist Church, her faith and kindness inspired those around her. Known for her love of animals, her cozy moments in the easy chair, and her passion for watching mixed martial arts, Mary lived a life filled with simple pleasures and meaningful connections.

In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her siblings: Sanford Armstrong, Beryl Armstrong, Jeaninne Johnson, George Armstrong, and infant Gloria Armstrong.

Mary is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Harry William Cunningham; daughter, Sharon Elaine Cunningham New; son and daughter-in-law, William Michael and Michelle Cunningham; grandchildren: Emily Elizabeth Buchanan, Jacob Benjamin Buchanan, Connor Michael Cunningham, and Kylie Jayde Cunningham; brother-in-law, Steve Cunningham; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Swanson and her husband, Dwight, and Frieda Armstrong; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, Mary was cremated and a memorial gathering will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram.

The family has requested no flowers, but instead, those wishing to make a contribution may do so to the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 256 Mountain View Loop, Buchanan, Georgia 30113.
