Melba (Hogue) Bagwell

Melba Louise Bagwell passed away on February 21, 2023. She was born July 10, 1930, to the late Lyman and Lois Griswell Hogue. Melba was a charter and devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 65 years, along with her late husband, Wendy Bagwell. She held a 45-year record for perfect Sunday school attendance all at Pleasant Grove.

In life, Melba was a fierce mother, matriarch, and companion to her family and husband. A protector and selfless giver, she was incredibly refined and wise. For over 70 years she kept the books for the family business, Bagwell Furniture.

Melba is survived by two daughters, Rita Bagwell McDuffie (Pete) and Wendy Bagwell Cerkovnik (Franci); a daughter-in-law, Little Jan Buckner; a sister, Norma Hogue Head; four grandchildren, Roneice Bradley (Phil), Jordan Futo (Lindsey), Jade Futo Velasquez (Jason), and Sonya Cerkovnik; ten great-grandchildren, Tinian Stanley, Erica Pakluck (Morgan), Shana Futo, Gabriel Futo, Gideon Futo, Valor Futo, Lily Futo, Olivia Velasquez, Jack Velasquez, and Athena Markopoulos; multiple great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Melba is preceded in death by her loving husband, Wendy Bagwell; a son, Ronald Buckner; a son-in-law, Pete McDuffie; five sisters, Ann Richardson, Betty Champion, Gail Seabrook, Shirley Hogue, Katherine Sheffield; four brothers, Gene Hogue, Lee Hogue, Eddie Hogue, Carlton Hogue.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral services for Mrs. Bagwell will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram, Georgia on Sunday, February, 26, 2023 beginning at 2:00pm with Pastor Rodney Carson and Pastor Tom Grantham officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
