Melvin S. Fennell age 63, passed away on May 28th, 2024, in Rockmart, Georgia. He was born on September 11, 1960, in Dallas, Georgia, to the late Louis S and Martha Jane Fennell. Melvin leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the opportunity to know and love him.
Melvin spent his career in various maintenance operation positions for the convenient store industry. He built canopies for gas pumps and then into maintaining gas pumps, registers, etc. to keep the stores of George H Green Oil operational. His job took him all over Georgia and the southeast. Despite his busy schedule, he enjoyed and found time to be with his family, go fishing, and cheer on one of his favorite sports teams, especially the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and The University of Georgia Bulldogs or Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
In addition to his parents Melvin in preceded in death by his brothers, Maverick Fennell, Bobby Fennell; sisters, Reba Hufsteteller, Inez Fennell, Imogene Fennell, Maxine Fennell, and Eyvone Fennell.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife of more than 47 years, Diane Fennell; son, Nicholas (Shay) Fennell; daughter, Dana (Adam) Fennell Rakestraw; grandchildren, Jed Rakestraw, Kade Brown; brothers, Grady (Margaret) Fennell, Charles (Connie) Fennell, Manuel (Peggy) Fennell, Troy (Sherri) Fennell; sisters, Brenda (Randell) Shoemaker, Dale (Glendall) Stacey, Myra (John) Dudley, Teresa (Marty) Williams, Arnice Fennell, Tish Gulledge, Toni Callihan, Star Kilgore and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The Family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM. A Funeral service for Melvin will be held at Clark Funeral Home on May 31st, 2024, at 4:00 PM With Adam Rakestraw Officiating. Melvin will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery in Dallas, Georgia.
