Mildred Elrod, age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at her residence. Millie was born on November 4, 1936 to her late parents, Willie Lee and Stella Reece Johnson. Mrs. Elrod was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dallas, GA and worked for Coca-Cola in the marketing department for more than 40 years. Millie lived by her faith and loved and believed in angels. Millie was a person of astounding resilience, and she faced every challenge that life threw at her with grace and fortitude. She loved to shop, especially on QVC and loved her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Haden Elrod; daughters, Terri Freeze and Debbie Barnhill; son, Rick Elrod; sister, Dottie Hawthorne; brother, Joseph Johnson; brother in-law, Mike Morgan.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Robert) Lee; sister, Martha Morgan; sister in-law, Sivie Johnson; brother in-law, Elliott Hawthorne; son in-law, Jeff Freeze; grandchildren, Megan Freeze and Brittney (Steven) Love; great-grandchild, Eleanor; along with many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Elrod will be held at New Prospect Cemetery at 750 Prospect Rd. Rockmart, GA 30153 on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mike Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 AM until 12PM at Clark Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Sam Elrod, Eddie Elrod, Michael Morgan, Jim Hawthorne, Butch Porter, Roger McCommons, and Jeff Freeze.
If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn, and that social distancing is practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mrs. Elrod safe. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to the states Covid-19 restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time).
