Nellie Rakestraw Rackley, 92, of Dallas, Ga., passed away on Nov. 29, 2021. She was born on April 21, 1929, and lived in Paulding County all of her life. A member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, she retired from Lockheed Martin after 15 years and spent 15 more as a greeter for Walmart. She loved her time there and all the customers she got to know. They loved her ever-present smile. Fellow churchgoers and Walmart shoppers will always remember her impeccable appearance, and family and friends will cherish memories of a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed collecting things, most of all angel figurines.
Mrs. Rackley is survived by daughters Kay Morris, Teresa Laird Philyaw, and Pam Newsome; sister-in-law Clay Lee Rakestraw; grandchildren Jana (Peter) Chesney, Tracy (Rick) Woodall, Kristie (Greg) Smith, Paul (Leslie) Laird, and Ryan Newsome; and great-grandchildren Ella and Ada Chesney, Jackson Klima and Kaitlyn Woodall, Tal and Mary Grace Smith, and Anna and Finley Laird.
Preceding her in death were parents Calvin and Ella Rakestraw; brothers J.C., Eldridge, Grady, Clinton, and Whitey Rakestraw; sisters Addie Bell Gurley and Annie Graham; sons-in-law Randy Morris and Dickie Philyaw; loving husband of 59 years Willard Rackley; and infant daughter Sherry.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Poplar Springs Cemetery fund.
