Nora Goodman

April 20, 1940 — January 9, 2024

Nora Wood Goodman passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born on April 20, 1940 to the late Henry and Estelle Wood in Madison, Georgia.

Nora obtained her nursing degree at Georgia Baptist hospital, and later went to the Mayo Clinic, becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She was very proud of her work. She married her husband, Doctor Jim Goodman, in September 1973, and they spent their life together on their cattle farm in Temple, Georgia.

Nora was a proud member of the Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB), for 44 years. On December 6, 2022, Nora was re-elected to a two-year term on the GFB Board of Directors to represent the district's 14 counties in the Metro Atlanta area. She has served as GFB 3rd District director and president of the Paulding County Farm Bureau since 2003. She has served on various state commodity advisory committees for GFB and has represented the organizationas a voting delegate to the American Farm Bureau Federation. In addition to her Farm Bureau leadership, Nora was an active member of the Georgia Cattlemen's Association, and a member of the Tri-County Cattlemen's Association. She was a director of the Georgia Agriculture Land Trust and served as director of the Paulding County Hospital Authority.

Nora is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 30 years, Dr. Jim Goodman, her son John Achter, her brother, Henry D. Wood, and her great-nephew, Deen Smith.

Family was important in her life, and those left to cherish her memory, are her sisters Juanita E. Pardue of Gainesville, Georgia, Clara W. Smith (Richard) of Columbus, Georgia, and sister in law, Nancy C. Wood of Savannah, Georgia, nieces and nephews, Shannon Moore of Columbus, Georgia, Ashley Patterson (Brice) of Waverly Hall, Georgia, Justin Smith (Tami) of Columbus, Georgia, Erik Pardue (Mary Lina) of Gainesville, Georgia, Jaime Russell (Gil) of Marietta, Georgia, Dr. Lindsay Sammons (Dr. Edward Sammons)-Savannah, Georgia, Jeff Wood of Pooler, Georgia, as well several great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Clark Funeral Home and Chapel. A service for Nora will be Monday, January 15, 2024 at 11:00am at Clark Funeral Home and Chapel with Reverend Don Rackley officiating. Following the service, Nora will be laid to rest next to her husband at Dallas Memory Gardens with Justin Smith, Brice Patterson, Erik Pardue, Gil Russell, Jeff Wood, Colton Patterson, and Dr. Edward Sammons serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Paulding County Farm Bureau Board.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Nora's name to help express the appreciation for the excellent care Nora and her family received there.
