Pauline Georgette Wiitala

April 19, 1944 — December 3, 2020

Pauline G. Wiitala (Mere), 76, of Dallas, Georgia, formally of Fitchburg, Massachusetts passed away  peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2020 after a short fight with the Corona Virus.  She was born to her loving parents, Beatrice and Victor LaPlante on April 19, 1944 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, William Ashley & Lisa Ann Gilham, her daughter, Melissa King; her grandchildren: Savannah Robinson and her boyfriend Andrew Liss, William Herron Robinson and his fiancé Megan Black, Peyton Robinson and her boyfriend Matt Aliff, Desirae Francois and her husband Mark, EJ King and Zoe King; her great grandchildren Aiden Torrez,  Audrey Francois, and Knox Black.  She is also survived by her siblings: Jeanne Maynard, Victor LaPlante, Ginger and Ed Dame, Lorraine and Bill Moscardini, Betty, and Rene LaPlante, and  her devoted ex-husband, Ron Wiitala. She is preceded in death by her sister-in-law Linda LaPlante.  Pauline is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Pauline graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1961.  She later married Ron Wiitala and had two children, whom she raised in Marietta, Georgia. Pauline was the definition of a homemaker; she took care of her family and their home. She cooked every day and always had a homemade snack on the table waiting for her girls when they came home from school. During the 1980’s and the 1990’s Pauline worked at the Chattahoochee General Store and she was a member of the famous Chimney Springs Craft Group.

Mrs. Pauline will be cremated, and the details of her Georgia memorial service will be disclosed within the next few days.  At a later date, we will bring her home to Massachusetts to be laid to rest with her Mother.
