Phillip Marion McBride, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on March 6, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama, and spent his later years in Rockmart, Georgia. Phillip's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to family and friends, as well as his love for creating and building. As a manager in the trucking industry at Colonial Freight, he was not only respected by his colleagues but also loved and admired by many for his warm spirit and cheerful demeanor.
Phillip had a natural gift for working with his hands; he could transform ordinary materials into remarkable creations, often drawing from his artistic flair. He was an avid fisherman and a true entertainer, quickly bringing joy and laughter to every gathering with his quick wit and infectious sense of humor. A great cook, Phillip frequently hosted family and friends, where they indulged in his delicious meals and shared wonderful moments. His love extended beyond his immediate family; he cherished and cared for Brenda's children, treating them as his own.
Phillip is survived by his son, Robert "Robbie" McBride; daughter-in-law, Darla McBride; son, Phillip "Gregory" McBride; first wife Patricia Benson; step-son Nate Carter; step-daughters Donna Seago, Natalie Dunaway, and Susan Fleetwood; his brothers, Bill (Janice), Clarence (Jane), and Lawrence McBride (Eve), as well as his step-brother, Tom McBride (Ruby), and step-sister, Jane McBride. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law, Iris McBride, granddaughter, Maggie Quade (Casey), and great-grandchildren, Porter and Oliver Quade.
A funeral service to honor Phillip's life will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Sam Clark Chapel, with a visitation preceding the service at Clark Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 pm until the start of the service. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Fairview Road in Stockbridge, Georgia, in a place that reflects the love and memories he created throughout his life.
Phillip Marion McBride will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, creativity, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alberta McBride; his wife, Brenda McBride; his son, Jeff McBride; and his brothers, Bob McBride and Carl McBride.
