Ralph Thomas Austin, age 84, of Dallas, GA, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011. He was born April 3, 1926, in Dallas, GA, and was preceded in death by his father, Noah Ralph Austin, mother, Eunice Barber Austin and sister, Alta Shipp. Mr. Austin was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Merchant Marines. He worked for Atlantic Steel for 30 years as a crane operator and was a member of New Georgia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Thelma Mitchell Austin; son, Rick Austin of Dallas, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Joan & Charles Agricola of Mableton, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Starlyn & Linda Austin of Toccoa, GA; sisters & brother-in-law, June Bone of Dallas, GA, Betty Jean Phillips & husband, Taylor of Hiram, GA and Elaine Gibson of Powder Springs, GA; brother-in-law, Reverend Sam Shipp; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday, February 13, 2011, at 2:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Dr. James Burdette and Reverend Keith Stell officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Meadows Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 12, 2011, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
