Richard Harold Kirk passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. He was born on August 18, 1933, the Son of the late Joseph and Mamie Crook Kirk in Atlanta, GA. He worked as an Electrical Estimator for many years. Richard loved his family, God, and his dogs. He was an active member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and served The Lord in other churches for over 50 years in many roles including deacon, trustee, president of the men's club, Sunday school teacher, and member of the choir. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, coaching baseball and football, watching the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta falcons but mostly spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Kirk, Jr., and niece Karen Blair. He is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Barbara Kirk; son, Richard Mark Kirk; daughter, Lynn Kirk Wilson and her husband Danny; grandchildren, Ashley Kirk-Kramer, Chrissie Kirk, Danielle Wilson, Caleb Wilson, and Margo Wilson; three great-grandchildren; niece Kristi Dubey and many friends.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral Service for Richard will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Wayne Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Barry Price, Larry Gilbert, Joe Ratteree, John Woods, David Dixon, and Ray Collier serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Richard’s honor to Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
