Richard E. “Dickie” Philyaw, age 70, of Hiram, GA, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016. He was born on September 11, 1945, in Gainesville, GA, to the late Terrell A. & Sara M. Philyaw, and was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Philyaw and sister, Mary Hall. Mr. Philyaw was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War, and the owner of Philyaw Asphalt Company. He loved to hunt.
Survivors include wife of 9 years, Teresa Laird Philyaw of Hiram, GA; son, Cale & Alisha Philyaw of Gainesville, GA, and Sean & Gretchen Philyaw of Buford, GA; step children, Jana & Peter Chesney of Greensboro, GA, and Paul & Leslie Laird of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Molly Philyaw, Hudson Philyaw, Asher Philyaw; step-grandchildren, Anna Laird, Ella Chesney, Ada Chesney and Finley Laird; several nephews; mother-in-law, Nellie Rackley of Dallas, GA.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at 7 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Chief Todd Vandezande officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from 5 PM until 7 PM.
