Robert Alexander "Alex" Belland

March 29, 1997 — December 9, 2021

Robert Alexander "Alex" Belland, 24, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Dorothy Ellis; grandfather, Bob Belland; aunt, Kim Ellis. Alex was born on his parents' very first wedding anniversary on March 29, 1997, in Austell, GA. While his parents were so proud of their new addition, his big sister beamed with a pride that was immeasurable. As a toddler, Alex was into EVERYTHING! He had the sweetest, crooked smile and never met a stranger. Everyone he encountered was, in his words, his new "best friend." He was truly a fearless little boy. He loved to bring home bugs, reptiles, or any critters (all of which he named Henry) he could get his hands on, which turned out to be quite a few! Alex worked for 5 Star Gutters and was extremely handy. He could play any instrument he laid his hands on and could sing like hell, too. He was also extremely artistic. Alex was a friend to many and loved any adventure he could finagle his way into.

Alex was a talented young man and had so much to offer this world. Unfortunately, like so many who struggle with addiction, Alex's life has been cut too short, far too soon. This problem is an epidemic not only in our community but throughout our country. We as parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, mentors, and friends need to be vigilant about our loved one's struggles. Addiction is an epidemic that needs to stop being enabled and overlooked by so many. While ultimately the choice is up to the user, treatment is available, and there is hope. As unbearable of a loss as this is to our family, God's love for us all is unwavering and never fails. He is good, all the time. While we will miss Alex for the rest of our time on this Earth, we are thankful that his struggles with addiction and sobriety are over.

Alex is survived by his parents, Robb and Pam Belland of Douglasville, GA; grandmothers, Eva Early of Fort Meyers, FL, Sherri Belland of Sandusky, OH; brothers, Jason Belland of Port St. Lucie, FL, Chris Belland (Nicole) of Stewart, FL; sister, Rebecca Lawson (Brian) of Temple, GA; uncles, Steve Belland (Ranée)of Fort Meyers, FL, Steven Ellis (Janis) of Colburt, GA, Keith Ellis (Marybeth) of North Pole, AK; aunt, Peggy Humphries (Mark) of Douglasville, GA; nephews and niece, Jayce, Poppy, and Eli Jenkins, who affectionately referred to him as "Top," of Temple, GA; niece, Mina Belland of Port St. Lucie, FL; nephew, Beau Belland of Stewart, FL; cousins, Chris Ellis (Amy) of Fredricksburg, VA, Andrew Humphries of Douglasville, GA, Charlie Humphries of Douglasville, GA, Harry Ellis of Athol, ID; extended family.

Alex's body will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.
