Robert Shaun Deaton

August 8, 2005 — September 23, 2022

Robert Shaun Deaton was born on August 8, 2005, and left this world on September 23, 2022. He was a 17-year-old young man whose dreams in life were grand and beautiful. Robert had a deep passion for nature and animals and was an avid outdoorsman. He wanted to get every available license with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources so that he could rescue and rehabilitate wildlife, work in conservation, and teach the public about wildlife and exotic pets through his work in animal rescue. Robert volunteered with the Georgia Herpetological Association and Rescue, and had recently helped his mother start Little Rose Farm Exotic Animal Rescue. Every day he worked and played hard caring for snakes, various types of lizards, tortoises, fish, and more. He was known to close friends and family as "The Snake Charmer" for his ability to set even the most nervous snake at ease with a touch. His personal pets included a 13-year-old Olde English Bulldog "Dixie", a sand boa named Richard, his beloved bearded dragon Rango, and a collection of fish, tarantulas, and scorpions. All of them went to the other side with him. Robert was a very gifted boy. He was very talented at shooting both a gun and a bow. His father taught him from the time he was a small boy, and he was incredible. He later taught his mother how to handle a gun and did so with the knowledge and safety of any adult instructor. He enjoyed playing Call of Duty with friends, spending time with his mom, learning about survival, and dreaming about all kinds of cars. He had a fascination with anything that had wheels from the time he was an infant.

Robert loved spending time with his father and grandparents on his weekends and school breaks. He spent a lot of time wandering their 70 acres of woods, working alongside his father on cars, riding his dad's 4-wheeler, target shooting with his father and grandfather, and playing video games with his brother, Caleb, on rainy days. Robert was homeschooled but had enjoyed his time in school in Douglas County Schools, Paulding County Schools, and Floresville ISD in Floresville Texas. He made a lot of friends and loved to crack jokes in class and see his friends and teachers laugh. He always had a joke ready in any situation.

Robert was a dedicated and loyal son, brother, and friend. He was always the first to offer a hug, an ear, or come to defend someone in need. He gave his life trying to save his little brother, he was a true hero.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sara and Dennis Johnson Sr. He leaves behind his mother, Kati Wall; his father, Nicholas Deaton; stepfathers, John Lawrence and Jason Wall; grandparents, Mike and Peggy Deaton, Deanna and Aaron Staton, Joe and Mary Lawrence, Chris and Linda Gray; great-grandmother, Mary Robinson; godparents, Andrea Loveless and Logan Dumolt; dear family friends, Talisha Hopkins, Todd Walthour, Kamilah McElwee, Branden Crook; best friend, Caden Doss; and many beloved aunts, uncles and, cousins and friends.
