Robert Douglas Gober

Robert Douglas "Doug" Gober passed away on October 30, 2022. He was born on March 11, 1937 in Hiram, Georgia to the late Robert Grier and Cleo Sarah Gober. Doug was an United States Navy Veteran and served from 1959 to 1963. After his service, he joined law enforcement and served as Chief of Police for Dallas Police Department. When he wasn't working, Doug could be found doing anything and everything else. He wasn't the type of man to just sit around. He was either cutting grass, running errands, or spending time with his family. He was very family oriented and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doug was a honest and caring man who will be so very missed.

In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Allen Gober and his brother, Ernest Gober. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Gober; his children, John (Ryan) Gober and Lisa (Tommy) Taylor; sister, Judy (Paul) Clark; grandchildren, Cassie (Jason) Pulliam, Brooke (Shannon) Horner, Emma Gober, Ella Gober, Essa Gober; great-grandchildren, Taylor Pulliam, Sam Pulliam, Peyton Horner, Brody Horner, Cade Horner, Ridge Horner, and several nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Services for Mr. Gober will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November, 2, 2022 beginning at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with John Gober, Tommy Taylor, Jason Pulliam, Shannon Horner, Taylor Pulliam, Sam Pulliam, Peyton Horner, Brody Horner, Cade Horner, and Ridge Horner serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Gober's honor towards the Marcus Autism Center , 1920 Briar Cliff Road Atlanta, Ga 30329.
