Robert Luther Pearson, age 50, of Douglasville, GA (Paulding County), passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010. He was born August 6, 1960, in Canton, GA and was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Lee Pearson. Mr. Pearson retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant, after 20 years of service. He served in Desert Storm and was a chemical warfare instructor for the Air Force. Mr. Pearson was a Commander for the Sons of the American Legion Post 294 and Sergeant of Arms for the American Legion Post 294. He was a lifetime member of both the V.F.W. and Air Force Sergeants Association, and a member of the American Legion Rider Post 145.
Survivors include his mother, Emily “Marie” McDowell & husband, Sam of Powder Springs, GA; sons, Robert Wesley Pearson of Poughkeepsie, NY and Derick Pearson of Red Hook, NY; brother, David Pearson of Douglasville, GA; step-brothers, Barry Garrett of Powder Springs, GA, Kevin Garrett of Austell, GA and Bryan Duncan of Bainbridge, GA; and girlfriend, Lisa Pitts of Douglasville, GA.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 18, 2010, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Potate and Mr. Bill White, Commander of American Legion Post 294, officiating, with full military honors to follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 17, 2010, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
