Robert “Bob” Carson Redmond, age 87, of Hiram, GA, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017. He was born on November 26, 1929, in Irmo, SC, to the late Robert Preston Redmond and Rebecca Harriet Wilson. Mr. Redmond was a 1949 Graduate of Woodward Academy, a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korea War, retired as a machinist from Parker-Hannifin, and was a member of Flint Hill Methodist Church. Bob was also a member of Sons of The Confederate Veterans.
Survivors include wife of 66 years, LaGroon Redmond of Hiram, GA; children, BeBe Redmond of Hiram, GA, Robert & Joy Redmond of Watkinsville, GA, and Raymond B. & Joann Redmond of Hiram, GA; brothers, R.P. “Rusty” (Dot) Redmond of South Carolina, and Pete Redmond, and friend Judy of South Carolina; sisters, Juanita “Neta” & Mark Lee of South Carolina, Theresa & Michael Lang of Columbia, SC, and Carolyn & Jim Richardson of Orangeburg, SC: grandchildren, Benjamin Michael Redmond, Steven William Redmond, Donald Andrew (Cynthia) Redmond, Kelley Ann (Shawn) Collins, William “Bill” Franklin Browning, Catherine Rebecca Nellans and Virginia Christine Nellans; great-grandchildren, Mollie Ann Redmond, Lilah Faith Redmond and Angelica Browning; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 11 AM, from Flint Hill United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ray Vaughn officiating. Mr. Redmond will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Flint Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 4 PM until 8 PM.
