Rodney Allen (Rod) Andrews passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014, at his home in Dallas, GA, after a long and courageous battle with Primary Amyloidosis.

Rod was born in Dothan, Alabama, on March 23, 1948. He graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1966. He attended Samford University and graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Alabama. For many years he practiced accounting in Dothan, Al, and was a partner in the accounting firm of McDaniel and Associates. In 2006, he purchased an accounting practice in Dallas, GA, to be nearer his children and grandchildren. He retired completely in 2012 due to health issues.

He had been a member of the Dothan Kiwanis Club and the Paulding County Rotary Club.

He was an elder and Sunday School teacher at the First Presbyterian Church in Dothan for many years and recently an elder and Sunday School teacher at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Dallas, GA. Recently he was honored by the Session of Grace Covenant naming him an Elder Emeritus.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wade Andrews, and his mother, Geraldine Andrews, and his mother and father-in-law, Foy and Maude Brooks.

He had been married to his high school sweet heart, Janet Brooks Andrews, for 46 years. He is survived by his wife and two children, daughter, Krystal Grizzard and husband, Jay of Bowdon, GA, and son, Matthew Andrews and wife Mandy, of Helena, AL. Four grandchildren, Anna and Samuel Grizzard and Nathaniel and Elijah Andrews. Three sisters, Joyce and Louis Tucker of Houston, TX; Carolyn and Steven Thornton of Dothan, AL, and Dianne and Dennis Pitts. One nephew, Brandon Thornton and his wife, Mary Catherine of Pelham. Two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Betty and Gerald Grandberry and Bobby and Dan Strickland of Dothan, AL. A brother-in-law and his wife, Dr. William and Susan Brooks of Rome, GA. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Dallas, GA, on Sunday, August 31, 2014, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Dothan, AL, on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Central, with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. with Dr. Charles McGowan and Reverend Rob Oates officiating. Burial services will be private.

Flowers will be omitted and any memorial donations made to Boston University School of Medicine, Amyloid Research Fund, 72 East Concord St. K-503, Boston, MA 02118.
