Ronald Irven McClung

Ronald Irven McClung, age 88, died June 22, 2022. He was born in Hiram, Paulding County Georgia, on December 10, 1933, to parents: Joseph Taylor McClung and Ethel Gay Grimes McClung.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 69 years, Beatrice Croker McClung, and his children: Ronald "Ronnie" Joseph and wife Donna McClung; Patsy McClung Dorrough, and husband Robert; and Carol McClung Albert Acherman. Grandchildren: Ryan Albert (Beth), Heather Albert, Jessica McClung Mayer (Eric), Jonathon Spinks, and Matthew Spinks (Anne Marie). Great Grandchildren: Lily, Caroline and Zoe Albert, Cameron Conaway, Jazmin Born, Dylan McClung, Stella Preston, Evan, Matthew Henry, John Allen, and Lily Marie Spinks. As well as many nieces and nephews who were deeply loved.

Ronald was the youngest of sixteen children, all deceased: Brothers: Byron (Nellie), Euel (Aline), Ottis (Pearl), Julian "Jut", Rufus "Bert" (Betty) and Ray Grimes (Nedra); sisters Zera Renfroe (John), Tressie Lawler (Clyde), Merle Shue (Bob), LaVern Cooper (Leonard), Gladys Stephens (Henry), Ora Hart (Aubrey), Doris Barner (Micky), Hazel Smith (Clarence), and Clara Jo Young (Paul). He is also preceded in death by his grandchildren, Aaron Luther McClung and great grandchild Ivan C. Mayer.

Ronald was very active in church serving as deacon, song leader, and church leader all his life. He was present when all three children were baptized. Currently belongs to New Canaan Baptist Church of Dallas, Georgia.

Ronald worked for Glidden Paint Company, for 21 years. After retiring from Glidden, worked as deputy sheriff Paulding County, Lockheed Corporation and developed his own business (McClung Development Corporation). He had a cattle farm, belonged to the Cattlemen's Association serving in all offices of the Association. Ronald also worked in rental and real estate development for 50 + years.

Ronald loved to hunt and fish. He played fiddle all his lifetime, including blue grass, old time country, & Gospel music. He also played in the Peapickers Band for many years. Highlights were playing for Governor (U. S. Senator) Zell Miller, Speaker of House, Tom Murphy, Representative, Charlie Watts, and State Senator, Nathan Dean for various events.
He joined the Gospel Jam at Poplar Springs and was involved with this picking and singing group for about 30 years.
He served on the Chairman Board of Tallatoona Association for many years as well as serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals of Paulding County. Mr. McClung was a Mason for over 50 years with Bartlett Lodge, Past Master, Emeritus member.

One of Ronald's greatest joys was in publishing his book of memoirs and growing up years from 1933 to present. His book was called "Good Times with Great People" and it was truly his Labor of Love.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 5:00 p.m.. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Justin Harris and Reverend James Cook officiating. Burial will be at New Harmony Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on New Harmony Church Road, following the service with Reverend Jeff Childers officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to New Harmony Cemetery Fund. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 622 Hiram, Ga 30141.
