Sallie Mae Porter, age 95, of Hiram, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009. She was born on May 4, 1913, in Hiram, GA, to the late Henry and Levada Hitchcock, and was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Porter. Mrs. Porter retired from Wellstar Paulding Nursing Home where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 26 years and was a member of Hiram United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth & Patricia Porter of Acworth, and Butch & Bonnie Porter of Dallas; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita & Richard Secord of Douglasville, Donna & Edward Johnston of Hiram, and Kaye & Larry Johnson of Hiram; brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Dorothy Hitchcock of Roswell; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 3 p.m., from Clark Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Ricky Eaves officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 13, 2009, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
