Sandra "Sandy" Black, 67, won her battle with cancer on the morning of May 11, 2023. She passed peacefully with her husband by her side at their home in Dallas. Sandy was born in Atlanta on January 16, 1956 and resided in Dallas most of her adult life. Aside from being a loving wife and mother, she devoted her life to being a caregiver at home and at work. She retired from Paulding County High School where she poured her heart into each kid she came into contact with. Sandy was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lee Major and Doris Cook and her brother, Walter Major. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Benjamin Black; her children, Jessica Black and Aaron (Jennifer) Black; her siblings, Sharon Mahs, Barbara Whitley, Pam Richardson, and Stacey Megahe; her grandsons, Luke and Jackson Black; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Funeral services for Mrs. Black will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 3:00pm with Pastor Alton Wilson and Kellie Black Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Dallas Memory Gardens with the following gentleman serving as pallbearers, Charles Neal Black, Kyle McKinney, Marty Mahs, Caleb Black, Clint Black, and Randy Franks.
