Sara Jeanette Porter, age 83, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 10, 1941, in Norcross, GA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Fannie May Clay. Jeanette led a life filled with love, joy, and treasured moments with those closest to her.
For more than 40 years, Jeanette owned and operated a dry cleaning business, where she built strong relationships with her customers and became a respected figure in her community. She took great pleasure in life's simple pleasures, such as enjoying her favorite dish of chicken and dumplings, listening to old country music and Keith Urban, and spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for her family. Jeanette was known for her kind and generous nature, always ready to lend a hand to others. She also had a deep passion for sports, especially cheering on her favorite teams.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Bobby Porter; brother Waymon Clay, and sister Jean Crocker.
Jeanette is survived by her son Rickey (Kivion) Porter; daughter Tasha (Jason) Leatherwood; grandchildren Jamey Porter, Mayson Leatherwood, Rylan Leatherwood, Katey Porter, and Patrick Porter.
A funeral service to honor Jeanette's life will be held at Sam Clark Chapel on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at Clark Funeral Home starting at 11:00 am. Following the service, Jeanette will be laid to rest at North Atlanta Memorial Park in Doraville, GA.
Jeanette's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
