Stephen Doys Hand, age 58, of Douglasville, GA (Paulding County), passed away Monday, June 10, 2013. He was born September 8, 1954, in Waycross, GA, the son of the late, Doys Hand and the late, Mildred Davis Hand. He was an outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter and athlete. Mr. Hand played football at N. C. State for four years under Coach Lou Holtz and played in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two years. He was in the commercial roofing business for many years, was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church in Waycross, GA and attended Church on the Word in Douglasville, GA. He had many loyal friends and lived his life and died on his terms.
Survivors include his sons, Stephen and Brandon; sister & brother-in-law, Wanda & Danny Altman of Waycross, GA; niece, Kim Moore (David); nephew, Kevin Altman; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his hunting dogs, Gunter, Ace and Tick.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Waycross, GA.
Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
