Valerie Ann Barlow, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, entered Heaven's embrace on October 27, 2023, at the age of 55. She was Born on May 9, 1968, in Dallas, GA, to her loving parents, Douglas and Ann Hicks. Valerie embraced life with an indescribable passion that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Valerie's journey in this world was marked by her unwavering love and selflessness. With a compassionate spirit and a nurturing soul, she dedicated her life to spreading kindness and joy to everyone she encountered. A shining light for her family and friends, Valerie's love knew no bounds.
In her professional life, Valerie found fulfillment as a talented hair stylist, showcasing her creativity and skill at JCPenney. She was also a woman of unwavering faith, attending Bethel United Methodist Church and Firestarter Ministries.
Outside of work, Valerie had a passion for Georgia Tech Football, enthusiastically rooting for her favorite team. She was also an incredible cook, known for her banana pudding and red velvet cake to name a few. Thoughtful and caring, Valerie's culinary creations were a reflection of her generous spirit.
Valerie faced life's ups and downs with an unwavering positive outlook. Her strength and resilience were awe-inspiring, and she never dwelled on her own challenges. Instead, she always found the time and energy to uplift others, offering support and a comforting smile whenever needed. Valerie truly embodied the essence of unconditional love and compassion. She was everything you needed when you needed it.
Valerie is survived by her parents, Douglas and Ann Hicks; sons, Douglas Barlow and Aaron Barlow; brother, Bruce (Michelle) Hicks, several nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Their lives were forever touched by Valerie's presence, and the void left by her passing will be immeasurable.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral services in honor of Valerie's remarkable life will be held on October 31, 2023, at 1:00 PM from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to have donations made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Valerie.
Valerie's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her immeasurable impact on the lives she touched will forever be cherished and remembered. As we mourn her loss, may we also celebrate the beautiful soul that Valerie was, and strive to emulate the love and compassion that defined her life.
