Vinnie "Ruth" Fortner

Vinnie "Ruth" Fortner, a beloved woman of many talents and a spirited soul, peacefully passed away on August 30, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born on November 25, 1930, in Talking Rock, Georgia, to her loving parents, who instilled in her a strong work ethic and resilience.

Ruth, known for her unwavering determination and zest for life, embraced her role as a homemaker with great pride and dedication. She found joy in the simple things and was skilled in various tasks, earning her the family nickname "Charlie" of all trades. Whether it was tending to her garden, passionately baking delectable treats, especially her famous peach cobbler, or sewing, Ruth's talents knew no bounds. She possessed a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that she generously shared with those fortunate enough to know her. Her warm and welcoming nature made her an irreplaceable presence in the lives of her family and friends.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Carrie McFall; and daughters, Nancy Reed, and Sandra Jenkins. She will be fondly remembered by her beloved sons, Michael Fortner, and James Fortner; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grand grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren..

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, Georgia on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, Georgia, on September 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Brother Don Rackley officiating. Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Memorial Park.
