Mrs. Virginia Elaine “Gami” Newberry of Dallas, GA, passed away on July 11, 2014 at 8:13 a.m. Mrs. Newberry was born on October 3, 1944, in Fulton County, Georgia, to the late Walter Henry and Sarah Jewell Hughes of Austell, GA. Mrs. Newberry drove a school bus for 10 years and retired from Regions Bank after 17 years of service. She served in the Ladies Auxiliary and raised the most funds for Relay for Life Paulding five years straight.
Mrs. Newberry is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sarah Jewel Hughes, brother, Walter Hughes, and sister, Joan Odell. She is survived by her husband, Doug Newberry of Dallas, GA; daughter, Janet & Keith Davis of Hiram, GA, daughter, Kim & Andy Smith of Powder Springs, GA; three brothers, Larry & Linda Hughes of Dallas, GA, Ricky & Susan Hughes of Lynn Haven, FL, and Danny & Elaine Hughes of Dallas, GA; brother-in-law, Wayne Odell of Dallas, GA; three grandchildren, Alan & Tracy Davis of Hiram, GA, Rusty & Jessica Monk of Dallas, GA, and Morgan Smith of Powder Springs, GA; two great-grandchildren, Alana and Jackson Davis of Hiram, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at 2 p.m., from Clark Funeral Home with Chaplain Ron Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 12, 2014, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
