W. E. Newman

W. E. “Gene” Newman, age 89, of Douglasville, GA, (Paulding County), passed away, Wednesday, April 11, 2012. The son of the late, Roy Delone Newman and the late, Dora Morgan Newman, he was born January 24, 1923, in Dallas, GA. Mr. Newman served in the U. S. Navy and was retired from Delta Airlines as a machinist. He enjoyed fishing and building and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Eva B. Newman; daughters & son-in-law, Ann Hicks & husband, Doug of Douglasville, GA, Barbara Driskell of Lavonia, GA and Janice Williams of Douglasville, GA; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Ken Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Josh Driskell, Kevin Smith, Matt Stephens, Heath Baker, Matthew Turner and Bruce Hicks will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, April 13, 2012, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
