Warren "Pepper" McLendon, a beloved husband, devoted father, and proud Marine, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, in Hiram, GA. He was 78.
Affectionately known as "Pepper," Warren was born on June 5, 1946. Throughout his life, he exemplified honor and hard work, forging a successful career as a conductor in the railroad industry with CSX Railroad. Despite his demanding occupation, Pepper always made time for his family, whether it was camping trips or just visiting with his loved ones. Pepper was avid history buff and was very proud of his Scottish heritage. He also held an appreciation of the history of firearms and enjoyed black powder shooting when the opportunity arose.
A man of integrity and loyalty, Pepper served his country with honor in the Marines, achieving the rank of Sergeant and continued serving with the Georgia State Defense Force and obtained the rank of Colonel. His commitment to duty and courage will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Pepper leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife Jane, son Shaun, and grandsons Ian and William. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Sr. & Hattie McLendon.
The funeral services to honor Pepper's life will be held in the coming days. A visitation will take place at the Clark Funeral Home in Dallas, GA on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 2:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the Sam Clark Chapel at 4:00 pm with Pastor Don Rackley officiating. Finally, a Graveside Service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm with military honors.
In memory of Warren "Pepper" McLendon, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, a cause close to the family.
Warren "Pepper" McLendon will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to his family and country will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
