Wayne Ogle

Gerald Wayne Ogle, 78, of Hiram, GA passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2014 after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family. Mr. Ogle was born in Chambers County, AL and spent his formative years in Hogansville, GA. He attended West Georgia College graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He was briefly employed by Lockheed Aircraft. He served in the Army National Guard from 1958 – 1964. After being honorably discharged as a Specialist 5th Class, he made his home in Smyrna, GA. It was there he met and married his wife and raised his family. He retired from the US Postal Service, Smyrna Branch, in 1982 after a long and dedicated career. He was a quiet man enjoying time with his family and friends at home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Byrum and Thelma Berry Ogle; sister, Carol Ogle Bryant; and brother, Jack Turner Ogle.

Mr. Ogle is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Norma Billingsley Ogle and three daughters, Julie (Ben) Blan of Hiram, Keelie (Jerry) Floyd of Dallas and Melanie (David) Stout of Euharlee, He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter, Kristi Stout Skelton; grandson, Austin Sparks; great-granddaughter, Emma Skelton; and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.

A graveside service will be Friday, July 4, 2014, at 11:00 AM, from Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, with Reverend Thomas Blagg officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be David Cato, Kyle Cato, Stephen Harris, Mark Willix, James Palm, Austin Sparks, Bryan Floyd and Jason Biggs. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, July 3, 2014, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
