With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of William E. Garvin, Jr. "Pop" on January 3, 2025, at the age of 92. A beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, "Pop" was a man who lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with a warm smile and a generous spirit.
Born on October 4, 1932, Pop lived a vibrant life. A proud veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Army, achieving the rank of Corporal. His commitment to service reflected his dedication to his family and community. Following his military career, Pop found his passion as a draftsman, contributing to the engineering industry during his tenure at G.E. and later retiring from Serrmi Industries. In 1972, he and his brother in law Albert Wix established G & W Locksmith, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit.
A lifelong Georgia Tech fan, Pop loved sharing his enthusiasm for sports. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and enjoying the great outdoors. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and zest for life.
Pop is survived by his loving sons, Scott Garvin and wife Hope, and Randy Garvin and wife Linda; his cherished grandchildren Jessica Crider (Michael), Lindy Moody (Jonathan), Wesley Garvin (Stephanie), Jon-Michael Tinney (Kayla), and Cody Bradford(Cheyenne), as well as his great-grandchildren, Eli Crider, Lacey Crider, Marleigh Tinney, Addi Tinney, Truett Tinney, Oakley Bradford, and Rowdy Bradford. Each of them carries a piece of his legacy in their hearts.
A celebration of William's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Sam Clark Chapel. The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm, following a visitation at Clark Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a life well-lived and to share in the stories and laughter that defined William's journey.
William E. Garvin, Jr. will be laid to rest at Kennesaw Memorial Park, 1306 Whitlock Ave SW, Marietta, GA 30064, where he will find peace amidst the memories of a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests considering a donation to either the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org or the Tunnel to Towers Project at t2t.org, as a testament to William's patriotism and support for our troops.
