William Patterson Sumpter, Jr., age 75, of Dallas, GA, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010. He was born August 16, 1935, in Atlanta, and was preceded in death by his father, William Patterson Sumpter, Sr. and mother, Mary Autry Sumpter. Mr. Sumpter had worked in retail sales for Sherwin-Williams. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janet Arnold Sumpter; son & daughter-in-law, Brian & Tina Sumpter of Dallas; brother, Michael Sumpter of Decatur; and grandchildren, Holly Sumpter, Ryan Sumpter and Patrick Sumpter.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 11:00 AM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Pastor James H. Cook, Jr. and Pastor Jason Loudermilk officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM, from Evergreen Cemetery in Athens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
