William “Darrell” Twilley, age 73, of Dallas, GA, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012. He was born November 25, 1938, in Dallas, GA and was preceded in death by his father, William Edward Twilley; mother, Melba Mitchell Twilley; sister, Janice Lagana; and son-in-law, Mike Akers. Mr. Twilley was retired from the Ford Motor Company, after 30 years of service, where he worked in the stock department as a forklift driver. He also worked for PKW Building Supply and sawmilled in his spare time. Mr. Twilley was a member and President of the Men’s Club of North Paulding Baptist Church and he was a member of the Bartlett Lodge #139 F&AM. He sold watermelons and bought fruit for the nursing home for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Vivian Atcheson Twilley; daughter, Alissa Twilley Akers of Dallas, GA; granddaughter, Samantha Brooke Akers of Dallas, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Ronnie & Sarah Twilley of Dallas, GA; sister & brother-in-law, Nancy & Sonny Aiken of Dallas, GA; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Joe Lagana of Acworth, GA, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Atcheson of Dallas, GA, Mr. & Mrs. Felton Atcheson of Whitesburg, GA and Mr. & Mrs. Howell Ruff of Dallas, GA; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Thomas Cole and Reverend Jimmy Tibbitts officiating. Music will be provided by Lisa Benson, Ronnie & Sarah Twilley, “Papa’s Prayer” and James & FeFe Lawless. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens, with Jess Twilley, Paul Atcheson, John Atcheson, Shane Johnson, David Bell, Todd Chambley, Jonas Lagana and Brent Johnson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Club from North Paulding Baptist Church and Wayne Kirby, Tim Alls, Allen Matthews and Ty Lawrence. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 10, 2012, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
